Amps to Kilowatts Calculator

Convert Amps to KW

This amps to kilowatts calculator helps you convert electrical current (A) into real power (kW) with ease.

It supports both single-phase and three-phase systems. You just need to enter the amps, voltage, and power factor to get an accurate result.

Formula

The formula changes depending on the type of system:

Single-phase AC:

kW = (Amps × Voltage × Power Factor) / 1000

Three-phase AC:

kW = (√3 × Amps × Voltage × Power Factor) / 1000

Where:

  • Amps (A) = Electrical current
  • Voltage (V) = Supply voltage
  • Power Factor (PF) = Load efficiency (typically between 0.8–1)
  • √3 ≈ 1.732 (used for three-phase calculations)

Example

Suppose you have a 30 A current in a single-phase system with 230V and power factor of 0.9:

kW = (30 × 230 × 0.9) / 1000 = 6.21 kW

Now for a three-phase system with the same values:

kW = (1.732 × 30 × 230 × 0.9) / 1000 ≈ 10.76 kW

How to Use the Calculator?

  1. Select your system: Single-phase or Three-phase
  2. Enter the amperes (A)
  3. Input the voltage (V)
  4. Enter the power factor (PF) (default is 0.9)
  5. Click Convert to get the result in kilowatts (kW)
